The one victim is wearing a "rainbow" belt, so maybe this was a hate crime against homosexuals. The same guy is also wearing a backpack, which isn't usually seen on gang members. These two might have just been walking down the street minding their own business, and were unlucky enough to attract the attention of someone who didn't like gays.
