Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Oxford Circus stampede on Black Friday.

Here is what we know so far:



  • Hundreds have been evacuated from Oxford Circus tube station amid reports of gunshots
  • Armed police have arrived on scene after a gunman was reported to have fired shots.
  • The area is in lockdown and comes on one of the busiest shopping days of the year and pedestrians are being asked to inside buildings as police flood the area.

London's Metropolitan Police said: 'Police were called at 16:38hrs on Friday, 24 November to a number of reports of shots fired on Oxford Street and underground at Oxford Circus tube station.

'Police have responded as if the incident is terrorist related. Armed and unarmed officers are on scene and dealing along with colleagues from British Transport Police.
 
Mass stampede reported at Oxford tube station people running away from scene of terror attack on Black Friday.
 
Police say they have so far received one report of a woman sustaining a minor injury when leaving Oxford Circus station. No other casulaties.
 
Police say they have found no evidence of shots having been fired, no suspects and no casualties after panic on Oxford Street late this afternoon. Thank you for following our live coverage.
