Serbia Declares Highest Possible Weather Warning "Code Red" for Extreme Rainfall

4R_NwD.png

Weather warnings from meteoalarm.eu for today July 7.

Serbia has decalred the highest possible weather warning code red for extreme rainfall as thunderstorms continue to lash the country and people in the area are battling flash floods and recovering damage to infrastrcture.

The jet stream over Europe has been gone for months leading to erratic weather over the continent for almost every European country from Greece to Scandinavia.

The jet stream is strongest when there is difference in air masses between the Arctic and the equator which used to be the normal pattern in the past.

Warmer Arctic affects the strength of the jet stream.

Last couple of years the jet stream over Europe has been weakening as global warming intensifies but is has completely disappeared in the summer months of 2018 so the weather gets stuck in the same pattern for weeks.

The current heat wave in Western Europe is of unusual duration while several powerful cut-off lows have formed over the Balkans leading to excessive rainfall shocking 200 litres per square metre of water fell from the sky in Eastern parts of Bulgaria in the month of June 2018 which is triple the monthly average.

More updates soon.
