Portuguese Liverpool star "Diogo Jota" Dies in Car Accident, aged 28

Liverpool star Diogo Jota has died following a car crash in northern Spain at the age of 28 - and just two weeks since he married his childhood sweetheart.

The Portuguese have been travelling in a car with his fellow footballer brother Andre, 26, who also died.

The car was said to have come off the road, crashed and then burst into flames.

Jota had just married Rute Cardoso, the mother of his three children, and described himself as the luckiest man in the world in an interview released yesterday.

The crashed occurred on the A-52 in the province of Zamora. The road in Spain is a key route taken by drivers leaving northern Portugal.

Just heard about it on the radio the brother is stunnnig. Both corpses badly burnt.

It's not exactly my region, but it's relatively close. I'm sure there will be updates in all the news media in the coming days.

And yes, although both are physically beautiful, the younger brother is spectacular. But the media focuses more on the older brother since he's the famous soccer player of both.

It's a pity they burned instantly and their bodies didn't look good lying on a slab.

There has been a confusion, both on my part and on the part of the media, regarding the fact that Andre Silva, the deceased footballer and brother of Diogo, is not the person we are publishing here before.

There is an international footballer called Andre Silva (which I published a gallery before) who also lives in the same area of Portugal. Therefore, I have deleted the previous post.
And revisiting the initial post, you can see that Andre's face, where the two brothers appear in black and white, and the deleted posts, it can be seen that they are not the same person even though they look similar.

(And is also strange that a local footballer could have more than 1M followers)


Even in the most recent Instagram posts, many people are saying that Andre Silva is not the deceased one.

The bodies were apparently completely burned, and the initial identification was made using personal documents found at the scene of the accident and the vehicle's license plate, a Lamborghini that, according to the Civil Guard, suffered a tire explosion while overtaking another car on the A-52 highway near the municipality of Cernadilla, in northwestern Spain. The car left the road and caught fire.

Forensic tests were completed at the Zamora morgue, allowing the brothers' identities to be officially confirmed.

The funeralis scheduled to be held this Friday in São Cosme, a parish in the municipality of Gondomar, the brothers' hometown.

The accident occurred early Thursday morning. Diogo Jota was 28 years old and had just participated in the 2024-2025 Premier League season with Liverpool, while André Silva, 25, had recently played for Penafiel, contributing two goals and five assists.
