He went through nearly an entire lifetime, with all its trials and tribulations...and then ended up like this. Surely there was some way he could avoided a violent suicide. I would have told him to hang in because he had almost reached the age of his natural death anyway. Well, at least he pulled the trigger somewhere that wasn't unduly inconvenienced by the brain splatter.
