Downhill racer Scott Huntley, 28 died after hitting a tree on Sunday at the U.S. Downhill National Championships in Zirconia, North Carolina, on Sunday.
The race was reportedly stopped for two hours after the crash. That evening, the news came back from the hospital that Huntley had died.
Until his death, Scott Huntley was recognized as one of the top expert downhill racers in his age group in the Eastern U.S.
Scott had won at least three races in the Category 1, 31-39 Expert Downhill division this year, including the Tennessee National Downhill at Windrock Bike Park.
There will be a Scott Huntley memorial train ride starting from the top of the Mt. Snow, Vermont, downhill course at 4:01 p.m. on Saturday, August 10th to honor Scott.
