Ken Block, a professional rally car driver and co-founder of the car culture group Hoonigan has died in a tragic snowmobile accident. Hoonigan's official Instagram account announced the death of Block who was 55.
Block had shared his photos of snowmobiling in Utah on his personal Instagram account. In a Facebook post, the Wasatch County Sheriff's Office in Utah confirmed Block's death.
According to police, Block was riding on a steep slope in the Mill Hollow area outside of Woodland, Utah, when his snowmobile overturned, landing on top of him around 2:00 p.m. He was dead on the spot, according to police.
Hoonigan's Instagram post confirmed with deep regret, that Block was killed in a snowmobile accident today. They wrote in a post that Block was a pioneer, a visionary, and a cultural icon. Block is a father and a husband.
Block was a skateboarding, snowboarding, and motocross athlete. He was also known for his Gymkhana series of extreme auto sports videos, and he co-founded the DC shoe brand with Hoonigan.
Audi recently announced a partnership with Block on his upcoming Gymkhana project. Audi would construct a customised e-Tron EV for Block to use in his next project. Block has previously collaborated on rally and stunt projects with Subaru, Ford, and Audi.
