A 31-year-old Queens man committed suicide by jumping into the path of an oncoming N train Tuesday afternoon — but not before leaving his wallet on the platform in an apparent attempt to make sure his mangled remains would be identified, according to police sources.
Witnesses told police the victim, identified as William Olbrys, jumped onto the elevated tracks at the Broadway stop at 31st St. in Astoria as a southbound N train came into the station just after 4:30 p.m.
Responding officers didn’t find a note, sources said, but they did retrieve the Astoria man’s wallet.
Witnesses told authorities that Olbrys put the billfold on the platform before taking the fatal plunge.
