I'm guessing that red splash was caused by the wheel rolling over his heart, which then exploded outward like the bag of blood it is. Everything about a train suicide in winter is just too, too depressing.

I'd call this a low decapitation considering his arms/shoulders are still attached.

It was considerate of him to remove his jacket first, now it can be used by some needy person.
