New photos from Iraq show a mass exodus of biblical proportions today as the militant group Islamic State proclaims a new nation and takes town after town. Thousands of people died yesterday in Iraq from hunger, thirst and heat as they continued to climb high into the mountains to escape from IS militants who threatened to to wipe them all out.

Entire towns are now deserted.
