Pulling out the cross thrown in frozen waters by local priest in mid-winter is big thing in Bulgaria. The celebration is called Orthodox Epiphany.

One of my favourite holidays in mid-winter where young athletes jump into frozen rivers, lakes and Black Sea to pull a wooden cross as a sign of good fortune for the local town or village.
