Back in the mid to late nineteenth century, medical colleges in the United States didn't have refrigerators to store cadavers in. Instead, they stored the cadavers in large tanks of formalin just like in the video. They usually obtained fresh corpses from various sources (often questionable ones) and put them in the tank, weighting them down so they would stay on the bottom. They would be removed from the tank when the teacher was ready to prepare them for a class. Afterwards, the cadavers would be sown up and put back in the tank. I understand that the smell was horrendous.
The point is, this backwoods medical school is using a method of preservation that was used over a hundred years ago in the USA. I hope the students receive an up to date education.
