The Pillars of the Earth
and
World Without End
(Ken Follet)
It's been about 3 or 4 years since I read the first part of
"The Pillars of the Earth" saga. Although I really liked the story, for me it had many ups and downs, and after 75% of the book it became heavy and it was difficult for me to finish it. And that's why I was afraid to continue with the saga, even having the sequel on my shelf. (A gift from my sister)
Well, recently I decided to take the second part
"A World without End" and give it a try, and I really liked it a lot more than the first part, it is much better written (You can see that 18 years passed between the publication of one book and another) and you can see the improvement and the experience of the author .
This second part takes place 200 years after the original story, and although the structure of the book is similar to the previous one, it is much better carried out, it does not get boring at any time and you always want to read more as soon as you finish a chapter, and then Unlike the previous one, the chapters are not excessively long.
In the first part, the characters' plots revolved around a priory and the construction of a cathedral. Well, in this second part plots revolved around about the construction of a bridge and the Black Death.
As soon as I finished the book I was left with an emptiness for having to say goodbye to those characters, especially the charismatic Caris.
Now on my shelf I have the third part
"A Column of Fire" (a gift from my sister too) that I will read with enthusiasm in the future, but not very soon since I have other pending books waiting for a long time.
In addition to the books, I have the 2 adaptations in series format of the first two books in BluRay, and also a point and click video game of the first part.

By the way, although I am in favor of reading books in physically format, turning the pages, smelling them, etc. Since
I bought an ebook (second-hand since they are not cheap) I read a lot more and in more places since it is comfortable to carry and does not weigh.
Of course, if I really like a book I will buy the physically even if I have already read it. A geek is a geek LOL
