Cute cartel leader killed in an army operation

Luis Enrique Barragán Chávez (El R-5) was a Mexican drug trafficker and leader of the Los Reyes Cartel, a criminal organization created in the town of the same name that is part of Cárteles Unidos (United Cartels), a coalition of Michoacán cartels formed to resist the advance of Los Zetas and, following their weakening, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel in the state.

He was considered the leader of the organization following the capture of Alfonso Fernández Magallón on August 1, 2026, until he was killed during a Mexican Army operation on August 31, 2026. He was 40 years old.
