A healthy 19 Year old National Championship Water polo player dies after slipping into a Coma following a heart attack.

Often, it is because there is an undiagnosed deformation within the heart. It has been there since birth.

Yeah, unfortunately, there are a lot congenital heart defects that go undetected until its too late, often times. The only way to detect them is to conduct prohibitively expensive and invasive tests on every single person, which is not practical.

On a lighter note, I wouldn't have minded being his "ICU Nurse" when he was in a coma...... oh, man, the fun that we could have had.....
