As we age, and testerostone levels go down, transdermal testesterone cream and patches or injections can restore sex drive, but there are cautions.

(1) Excessive testosterone supplements can cause your gonads to atrophy.
(2) Excess testosterone can increase chances of a stroke
(3) Excess testerone can exacerbate prostate enlargement.

Red blood cells are produced in the bone marrow. Supplemental testesteron produces an excess of red blood cells.

As a youth, I foolishly used excessive testerone. A normal male has a hematocrit of 45-46. This number reflects the ratio of red blood cells to liquid in the blood.

If this number goes higher, the blood becomes more viscous and thicker, which can clog the mictocirculation and cause brain issues, and a higher chance of embolytic stroke.

My hematocrit went way higher and my doctor ordered me to donate blood to reduce that number. That ended my experiment with transdermal testosterone.

So the moral of the story is, if you try transdermal testosterone patches or cream, every few months ask for your physician to do a lab test for hematocrit.
