This is from just a few minutes ago in Seoul. Over 130 dead so far in Halloween crush.

Here is what we know.

Tens of thousands of revellers packed into a narrow alleyway in the South Korean capital before the massive stampede began around 10pm local time.

Some sources say over 100,000 people were gathered to attend the city's 2022 Halloween Festival. Many young guys are among the dead.

HD video from the scene. Hundreds were lying already dead or unconscious on the street many in need of CPR.

Authorities said a while ago they are investigating the exact cause of the incident in Seoul.

The deadly incident occurred on a hill where people at the top fell over, causing a massive crush.

The incident took place at about 22:20 local time (13:20 GMT), after a large number of people fell down in a narrow alley during Halloween celebrations, Choi Sung-beom, head of the Yongsan Fire Station, told Reuters news agency.

There were reportedly 100,000 revellers in the area. Social media messages posted earlier in the evening show some remarking that the tourist district of Itaewon was so crowded that it felt unsafe.

Yes. The number of dead has now risen to over 150 making the Seoul stampede one of the deadliest of the 21st century.

Good evening.

The number of dead has risen to 154 with 133 injured.

Police now say that they have identified almost all of the people who were killed or injured in Itaewon on Saturday.

However, they are also warning that the death toll is expected to rise because 37 people remain in critical condition.
