i'm more fascinated by the difference between the first and third pictures, primarily in the noose placement of the two men to the left. they were re-hung... does anyone know if the initial ropes slipped or exactly what did occur?

These are not new - but this posting does gather together in one post my set from this particlar hanging of 5 Russian guys.
For those who collect hanging pics - some points of interest (well to me anyway!!) - in Pic B the guys on the left are at an angle - therefore they are still swinging. Also the cute guy in the middle has his feet crossed in this pic.
In Pic C they are all hanging vertical - and the guy in the middle is now limp - with feet uncrossed. (Yeah - yeah - i know - I am a bit wierd!!)
The single pics are details that appear to be lifted out of the others.
If anyone has any others from this hanging - or a better quality pics, particlary of scene A (waiting to be hanged), I would love to have copies! :)

I think the two left-handed Russian boys hung again, because the rope broke. I think the second time the Nazis did not do support, and just pulled his hands up poor guy to the gallows. This can be seen on the ropes thrown over the crossbar gallows, where all the boys are hanging in the loops.
Add two more photos of this penalty. In one test rope Nazis. Another photograph guys are going to support. It's weird - do rise up, hands free. Then do not give a resistance to hang in shame. Why? Perhaps it is held hostage and could not resist. Perhaps resigned to his fate.

Executed Portuguese Serial Killer


Diogo Alves, Galician born in 1810, known by the nickname "The Slam" came very new to Lisbon, where he served in some more affluent homes of the time, and was down in history as the murderer of Aqueduct, because there was that over three years, perpetrated the crimes in a series that made him so odious as famous.

It is known that the killings began in 1836, around the same time when Diogo Alves lovingly engaged with the innkeeper Gertrude Mary (known as the Parreirinha), whose establishment was located in the area of ​​straw - near Sete Rios.

Thanks Zaeht and Delas7 for your posts and your comments. I've seen some of these pictures before and I think this is a really hot photo series. None of the five Russian youths appears to be putting up the least resistance, nor does there appear to be any tears or sobbing or cringing. I think you are right, they are resigned to their fate. Plus, like the brave young fighters they probably were, they don't want to look cowardly in their final moments. Still, in the last photo, we see two of the condemned helpfully climbing the steep platform on their own initiative, while a third allows his executioner to place o noose around his neck, as a fourth compliantly waits his turn for his noose fitting. And, of course, none of the five guys have their hands bound. In photo A they all seem to be so calm for lads who are about to suffocate to death. But I wonder, do they think they hanging in shame as Delas7 suggests, or are they dying as martyrs?

Woah ropetrick, I was hoping for more pics of that underaged boy, thanks so much. Now I'm left longing for larger pics. :D

I think I saw it somewhere... the black and red velour suit looks familiar, but I'm not sure at all.
