Gold toilet called America stolen from palace!

Blenheim Palace near Oxford is one of our stateliest of stately homes. It is not actually a royal palace - it was built by a grateful nation for the 1st Duke of Marlborough as a thank-you for winning the Battle of Blenheim in 1704 (and the Duchess being Queen Anne's girlfriend may have helped too) - but it is a great deal more impressive architecturally than any of the palaces where Queen Lizzie lays her humble head.

So far, so good.
Now this is where it gets marvellous.

  • In September they opened an art exhibition, and one of the art objects was a solid gold toilet, fully plumbed in and operational, and worth nearly £5 million.
And next to the room where Winston Churchill was born.
    And they called it "America".
And within days it had been nicked - burglars broke in at night, ripped it out, and drove off with it, seemingly without setting off any alarms, or anyone noticing.

And it is still missing. I wonder where on Earth it can be - um, I take it the cops have checked out Trump Tower?
