A former Canadian Premier League goalkeeper has been identified as the man who died in a motorcycle crash in Edmonton Thursday night.

Dylon Powley, 27, crashed his motorcycle in southwest Edmonton.

Police believe he lost control before crashing and say no other vehicles were involved.

He died on scene.

Born on September 5, 1996, in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, Tyson Powley showed an early passion for soccer. Growing up, Powley honed his skills and developed a reputation as a promising goalkeeper in local leagues and youth teams. In 2016, Powley embarked on his professional career by joining the Premier Development League (PDL) side, Calgary Foothills. His debut season with the team was marked by impressive performances, as he made twelve regular season appearances and five playoff appearances. One of the highlights of his season was a crucial penalty save against Seattle Sounders U-23 in the Northwest Division playoff game.

Despite their commendable effort, the team ultimately lost to the Michigan Bucks in the final. Powley’s outstanding contributions throughout the season earned him the Supporters MVP award for 2016. The following season saw Powley continue his strong form, making fourteen regular season appearances and one playoff appearance for Calgary Foothills. His consistent performances solidified his reputation as a reliable goalkeeper in the league.

In April 2021, Powley signed with Atlético Ottawa, a Canadian Premier League (CPL) team. His tenure with Atlético Ottawa was significant as he led the league in minutes played, showcasing his endurance and skill as a goalkeeper. Powley finished the season with the second most saves in the league, a testament to his abilities between the posts. Despite his individual success, Atlético Ottawa struggled as a team and finished at the bottom of the league table. At the end of the season, Powley departed the club, marking the end of his time with Atlético Ottawa.

On February 1, 2022, Powley announced his retirement from professional soccer. His decision to retire came shortly after he had already started his transition into coaching.
