feeling and death sentence

I don't know since I have never been executed. it may be difficult to get a well-informed answer to this one! :happy banana:

Each of us deals with our mortality in very unique ways. Probably every person who has been executed would give a different answer to your question. It is also worth noting that here in the United States, a person who is given the death penalty does not leave the courthouse and is immediately given a lethal injection. A person on death row may have to wait years before they are executed since due process allows the inmate to appeal and even ask for clemency. By the time an inmate is executed, he or she has probably made peace with the fact they are about to die.

Public opinion about the death penalty is changing in the US and many people are starting to realize that the death penalty may be unconstitutional as the Eight Amendment prohibits cruel and unusual punishment. We may end up in the future in a situation where people on the death row who were sure they were going to die will no longer be executed. It will be interesting to see how they cope with the fact they will live after years thinking they would die.
