Duque de Caxias - Alderman Danilo Francisco da Silva, Danilo do Mercado, and his son were murdered this Wednesday afternoon, in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense. Danilo, 53, and Gabriel Francisco Gomes da Silva, 25, were ambushed by car thugs at Alameda Américo Campos, in the Jardim Primavera neighborhood. The criminals opened fire and then fled. Father and son died instantly.

Before being elected with 6,080 votes in the last municipal election, being the sixth most voted candidate in the city, Danilo had already occupied the position of councilman in the City Council of Caxias until April 2020, when he became a substitute. In August last year, Danilo was the target of a Civil Police operation. The politician was appointed as the head of a death squad
