Simon Hallenbarter was a Swiss biathlete. He represented Switzerland at two Olympics – 2006 Winter Olympics and 2010 Winter Olympics. Hallenbarter finished 16th in the men's 10 kilometres sprint at the 2010 Olympics. He started to compete in biathlon in 2002.
Hallenbarter retired from the sport at the end of the 2013–14 season. When Hallenbarter resigned in 2014, the Obergoms ski club organized a farewell party. Simmen appeared as a eulogist and once again mentioned a few key figures: three Olympic appearances, eight participations in the World Championships, ten rankings among the top ten in the World Cup.
Simon was on vacation with his partner in Austria when he took his own life. Very few had known that he was no longer mentally healthy. Simon Hallenbarter was only 43 years old.
