"Body of Gay Serial
Killer Found"
The body of Caleb Sean McDonagh, alleged killer of at
least 17 men, was discovered last week in a remote
wilderness area forty miles west of the city. The body
was found in a ravine along with five other corpses.
All had been dead for over a year, and their remains
could be identified only through DNA testing.
Sheriff Sam Squires stated that the remains were almost
totaly decomposed, having been subject to weather and
wild animals for well over twelve months. Forensic
investigation by the coroner's office determined that all
six had been killed savagely. One had been decapitated.
Others had multiple broken bones. And one, Mr.
McDonagh, had been skewered through his torso by a
sharp stick. What other atracities inflicted on them could
not be determined due to deterioration. Little evidence
was found. Their clothing had pretty much rotted away.
Remarkably, the wallets of all six were found, but empty
of cash. Three whisky bottles, a bicycle chain, a penknife,
and strands of rope attached to a tree branch were also
found nearby but it will be impossible to determine whether
these had any connection to the murders.
The bodies were discovered by two locals who had been
hunting in the area. George Yancy, a farmer, said they
had entered the ravine while chasing a deer and found
the bodies in heavy brush. His fifteen-year-old son, Oscar,
was visibly upset by what he saw and the manner of their
deaths. "No matter who or what they were," said Oscar,
tearfully, his voice breaking with emotion, "they didn't
deserve to die like this. They were God's children and we
love them and pray for them"
Mr. McDonagh was reported missing by his family
eighteen months ago. During the investigation into his
disappearance, the sheriff's department discovered a
torture chamber and 17 graves in a sub-basement.
The dead, all young men, had been killed over a period
of five years, according to evidence found in the house.
Identification of the victims was made easy by the
graves containing personal effects such as wallets and
car keys, and by a journal kept by the killer. The
journal described in horrific detail how McDonagh had
killed each victim. Their deaths were vicious and bloody,
each man suffering brutal torture and excruciating pain.
McDonagh wrote of being sexually aroused as he
methodically destroyed his human prey.
Caleb Sean McDonagh was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and
came to the city eight years ago to study at the University.
Upon graduation, he became employed in the booming
tech industry on the South Side. His colleagues described
him as gregarious and popular. He was an easy greeter
and was known for his cheery introduction to strangers,
"Hi. Call Me Caleb!" In retrospect, his co-workers remarked
that he could be a bit of a loner and he seldom discusses his
private life. However, all we interviewed were shocked at
the crimes his is alleged to have committed. "Swell guy."
"So friendly." "Great guy to have brewskies with." "I would
have gone into his house anytime."
McDonagh's family has declined to make any statement.
Disposition of his remains has not been determined.
