A young motorist and his passenger were killed Monday evening when he raced his vehicle into a Brooklyn intersection and collided with an SUV that was making a turn, a police source said.
The 20-year-old driver, identified by police as Philbert Martin Williams, was going nearly 100 mph in his Nissan Maxima heading south on Flatbush Ave. and ran a red light at the intersection with Avenue U just before 6:40 p.m., the source said.
The SUV was turning left onto Avenue U from Flatbush.
Williams had a faint pulse at the scene and died at Coney Island Hospital, the sources said. His passenger, 18-year-old Christina Witter, was decapitated, the source said.
