A young motocross star has tragically died in a freak accident while competing on the racetrack.
Brayden Erbacher, 20, from Ipswich, Queensland, competing in Wonthaggi, Victoria about 11am on Sunday when he fell launching off a jump and was hit by another rider.
He suffered a severe head injury and was treated at the scene but the talented young rider could not be saved.
The tragedy happened in front of hundreds of horrified spectators and the rest of the day's ProMX Championship events - involving elite competitors from across the country - were cancelled.
