At least 24 people are dead, dozens are hurt and at least four are missing after powerful storms and at least one tornado pummeled Mississippi Friday night.
The storms knocked out power for more than 83,000 homes and businesses across Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee, according to PowerOutage.us.
The confirmed tornado touched down in Mississippi, where the damage and death toll were most severe. Search-and-rescue teams are spread across the state.
The greater storm system is headed east, with the threat of damaging winds and isolated tornadoes as it pushes off the East Coast by this evening.
