Electrocuted Worker

Wow. A burn-through hole on his head, plus serious erosion on his arms. That was some hella mistake.

OTOH, we can surmise that the voltage was likely no higher than 1.2kv, but as many amps as required. If it were, say 14kv, he probably wouldn't have a head left at all.

A year or two ago, outside my house, there was suddenly a bright flash, a loud bang, and all the power went off. We called the problem in to NationalGrid.

Not long after, a truck showed up, and a dude on a cherry picker was up fiddling with the pole pig (line transformer).

I went out to chat. At the bottom of the pole, I saw a pigeon, much the worse for wear.

NationalGrid dude said the bird had managed to short itself out across the HV terminals of the pole pig. That blew the transformer's fuse, and killed the pigeon instantly. "He never knew what hit him."

Not sure if we can say the same for this man. He might have felt it.
