Hurricane Michael has been upgraded to an "extremely dangerous" category 4 storm, hours before it is due to make landfall in the Florida Panhandle.
Florida is used to storms but the Panhandle, with its low-lying coastal strip and scattered communities, hasn't seen anything this strong for more than a dozen years.
Thousands of people caught up in the area face frightening next 24 hours as a Category 4 hurricane will most likely level everything in its path including newly build homes from concrete and steel.
Michael has already killed six people in Honduras, four in Nicaragua and three in El Salvador.
More updates soon.
