Following the passage of legislation in the USA many sites hosting pornographic and graphic stories have been forced to close. The most prominent of these is Zambian Meat but there are many others. In effect I understand that the USA claims a world wide jurisdiction whether or not the site’s are based there or elsewhere providing that they can be accessed from the USA. If I am wrong in my understanding then perhaps an American jurist, I am british, can correct me.
However the point I wish to make is that this is censorship and further it is censorship to fit the views of Trump and his Republicans. And that there can be no justification for the, USA to seek jurisdiction over sites based elsewhere just because they can be accessed from the USA.
Personally I find difficulty in viewing actual deaths but that is me and I should not wish to enforce my views on others. There are worse things published in the tabloid press. But I suspect that this is the thin edge and that if they get away with it much more will follow.
I don’t blame the publishers and site hosters not everyone is set out to be a John Wilkes, and I suspect the penalties are horrendous. And we know that the Americans have no problem I seekimg to extradite foreign nationals for so called offences which are legitimate in their own counties.
I guess this is developing into a rant. I am not anti American but wish they stopped trying to be the policemen of the world and seeking to enforce their morality on the rest of us.
And is this something the Democrats could overturnmor are they likely to be scared of doing so.
And incidentally, how safe is CDG. Perhaps Meatpie could comment.
Views everyone please

I am against censorship, and I can't understand what is driving these actions being taken by the U.S. Certainly, President Trump is not a prude, nor are the Republicans in general. They all like their X-rated content as much as the next guy. Something else is going on here, and I don't get it. It might be some religious people in high places. Trump is just a figurehead. The world is ruled by folks we never see.

Alexondeath, I think you hit on it. I agree with you censorship is wrong and ironically the USA Republicans want less government but they want to legislate more laws like this. One of the strongest voting blockks for Trump and the Republicans were the fundamentalist evangelical Christians who quite frankly in my mind are prudes even though Trump and most the leaders are certainly far from it. The VP Pence though seems to be truly a Prude which amazes me that he supports the President.

Deathinside forum has also been shut down by police

Yes. The USA is sadly not a democracy any longer. It's only a matter of time before CDG will not be accessible here. Though it troubles me I feel it's time to bow out gracefully. It's been a good run. Good luck guys.

I knew this would happen with trump in office. They say less gov't but do the opposite and impose their morals on the entire country. I hope this is only temporary until we vote him out of office or he's out after his second term. And trump and other republicans are a bunch of prudes. I've been ranting about it with everyone since he became president with all his religious freedom garbage and now the censorship.

This is important

Posted by the Admin today on another site (scatboi.com) - not being a USer I don't know the issues myself, but Max normally knows what he is talking about and he doesn't post something like this lightly.
Assuming he is right, sounds like our US members ned to do some urgent lobbying !

Red Alert for Net Neutrality

Last December, the FCC voted to kill net neutrality. If we do not take action, this will kill the free and open internet as we know it. The internet needs you—all of you—to make sure your voices are heard now.
We need all hands on deck for this one. It may be the last chance. If you’re feeling under-informed and overwhelmed about why net neutrality is so incredibly important, we have this handy guide just for you.
Here’s what you can do to save the internet:
In mid-May, the Senate will vote on a resolution to overrule the FCC using the Congressional Review Act (CRA). We only need one more vote in the Senate to win. Write or call your Senators or Representatives. You can also text BATTLE to 384-387 to get more information on how to write to your reps.
This is important. This matters. It’s up to you to help.
