Two Islamist Rebels Liquidated by FSB in Ingushetia

I never heard of Ingushetia, but it looks to be somewhere snowy.

It is in the north Caucasus next to Chechnya, and its people have 89% of J2 Y-DNA which is the highest known frequency in the world. They also have very unusual mitochondrial DNA, so have a care Alex if you are minded to swap mitochondria with an Ingush.

You cleverly baited me with a mysterious reference to "J2 Y-DNA" and my need to take care. SO, I clicked on your Wiki link and couldn't find an explanation on that page. I proceeded to click on the "J2" link I found on the first Wiki page and STILL couldn't find any answers. Please tell me why it is remarkable to have J2 Y-DNA, and why I should be wary of exchanging body fluids with the Ingush?

Here it is, from the Wikipedia link:

Genetics of Ingushetia's population[edit]
The Ingush have 89% of J2 Y-DNA which is the highest known frequency in the world and J2 is closely associated with the Fertile Crescent.[28]
The mitochondrial DNA of the Ingush differs from other Caucasian populations and the rest of the world. "The Caucasus populations exhibit, on average, less variability than other [World] populations for the eight Alu insertion poly-morphisms analysed here. The average heterozygosity is less than that for any other region of the world, with the exception of Sahul. Within the Caucasus, Ingushians have much lower levels of variability than any of the other populations. The Ingushians also showed unusual patterns of mtDNA variation when compared with other Caucasus populations (Nasidze and Stoneking, submitted), which indicates that some feature of the Ingushian population history, or of this particular sample of Ingushians, must be responsible for their different patterns of genetic variation at both mtDNA and the Alu insertion loci."[29][30]

As for why, you don't think I understand this stuff do you? :dunno:

Deaddirty, I saw all of those sentences, but they might as well be written in Ingush. They don't tell me a thing. I'm glad you have had the courage to confess that you are (almost) as confused as I. :p

The Ingushi people invented this genetic speciality then they exported it together with their bodyfluids to west Asia, Africa and southern Europe. People have always been fucking around and migrating. The practical consequence of this J2 Y-DNA occurrence is LOH (Loss of heterozygosity) wich has significance for the the individuals to develop cancer and autoimmune deceases. Eg. this population has higher occurrence of diabetes mellitus type 2, retinoblasthome and cancer.

I was reading the articles in Wikipedia backwards in my endeavour to understand what was written. :retard:

Thank you, old bearkill -- you have provided me with exactly the details I wanted...but was too lazy to find for myself! I was a poor student when I was young, and I have not improved with age. I still hate to study and research. I have always looked for immediate gratification in my life, and have, unsurprisingly, been often disappointed.
