A man was attacked and killed by a panthera on Jan 2, 2018 near Moscow. The animal was kept inside a cage at the house of a local millionaire who later said it wasn't the panthera's fault and the man made a mistake by opening the cage. Police are investigating and the dead man was taken for autopsy.

I'd never before heard the term "panthera". Now I know it refers to: a genus of chiefly large cats that includes the snow leopard, tiger, leopard, jaguar, and lion, most having the ability to roar. It might be added that most also have the ability to kill humans.

We had lots of black panthers (the animal not the people) in Florida, but they usually were found in the countryside and not in some idiot's cage. They are a fearsomely powerful beast that are agessive when threatened, but tend to shy away from intentionally people-hunting. If this guy was as rich in brainpower as he was in money, he might still be alive.
