A bus left a road in Moscow before ploughing into a subway entrance, leaving at least five people dead.

The incident occurred near Slaviansky Boulevard station in western Moscow.

Video from the scene posted on social media showed a bus veering off the road and plunging down the steps of a pedestrian underpass on Monday, crushing several people beneath its wheels.

The driver of the bus was detained by police, agencies said, after he lost control of the vehicle. The incident occurred on one of the Russian capital’s busiest roads near the Slavyansky Boulevard metro station.

I think Russia has a public relations problem that adversely effects its image. It's a modern and wealthy nation, but it's still widely perceived as backward and poor. Take this subway entrance. It is beautiful. You could even describe it as majestic, and they have reason to be proud of it. So...they should have published photos and a story about it BEFORE a bus drove down the steps. Now is the wrong time to acquaint the world with this wonder of Moscow.

Moscow is definately powerful economic region with excellent infrastrcure construciton is booming.

Metro trains for Sofia, Bulgaria are made in Moscow.

Unfortunately many areas outside the capital and other large cities still suffer from poor infrastructure and transportation. It's a huge country it's insane how they even manage to keep their borders secure.

its just crazy to hear and see how many fatal accidents occur in Russia

Russia has one of the highest death rates for young men in the world and also lots of fatal road accidents but still below the number for the USA.
