I have noticed in the last two days a lot of spam posts on the forum? Espically from fake accounts created just to post spam on here.

Can someone explain what is going on?

I just want to see that if other members have noticed this issue also?

Ive noticed a couple - and reported them.
They do happen occasionally. If you spot a new one, report it (click the triangle at bottom left, below the 'Power' of Rep Power) so Meatpie and the mods can deal with it pronto.

Thanks to everyone who reported spam posts last couple of days we'be been under relentless attack by bots.

Lots of spam. I reported a couple. One question, Meatpie. I saw two yesterday. I reported the first one without issue, but when I went to report the second one, I got a message that I must wait 200 seconds in between reporting posts. Is there a reason for that? I'd think the moderators would want to know as soon as possible about spam attacks.

Same thing here. I was thinking there could be a screening process like entering a set of numbers, ect. A lot of forums do this to try to prevent bots from registering. It is called " capita" most banking sites use it.

Problem is they register and even make posts like ordinary members then lie dormant for months. It's impossible for our system to distinguish them.

Wow that is scary, makes sense why you banned "Grayeyedsub" I would never have guessed he was a bot?

Seemed to me like he was a real person like on the messenger kik.

But my gut was telling me, with him being evasive and not answering questions something was not right.

You're welcome, meatpie, but once again I saw multiple spam posts, and when I went to report them, was told to wait 200 seconds in between. With the attacks we're under, can that be changed so when guys see spam, they can report ALL of them?

I am afraid if this continues we will restrict access and only elite members will be allowed in.

I can understand your frustration but isn't limiting access to elite members effectively playing into the spammers game.. He wants to destroy the site and there there is no faster way to achieve it than restricting access to the loyal membership and reducing the number of posts. And an intelligent spammer would almost certainly have taken out a month or two elite membership to help cover his tracks.
I've no solution to the problem although there are many members who might have specialised knowledge who might be able to suggest an alternative solution to you. Come on guys, let Meatpie have your ideas.

I hate to say this but I agree with Linder, maybe if their can be a very low priced elite tier 1 and for the ones that want to see the secret room,ect. A tier 2 higher pricing?

Say $10 a month just to post here and $30 a month for all of the elite features. What do you guys think?

I think all of us are willing to pay as long it is very reasonable.

What is your feedback on this idea guys?

I enjoy coming here and contributing to threads, but I can't afford to pay, that 's one reason I belong only to sites that allow free membership. These bots hit us only a few times a year, so I still believe the answer is to remove the time limit between reporting spam. I think kicking out ALL free members would be a gross overreaction. Also, I doubt grayeyedsub was a bot. I believe that he indeed may be held by the member who announced plans to kill him, and probably gave that member his access info. Then that member may have posted spam as grayeyedsub, knowing that such posts would lead to an immediate ban, and explain his absence.

I can't remember having ever come across spam on CDG, though I don't doubt it's here. I hardly ever go to any area except Death Images, so perhaps that is not a favorite target of the spammers. I just hope CDG doesn't have to become a site for paid members only.
