I still can accept the idea that we will become like this too.
Once you see a decomposed body, you absolutely don't want to die.
Before my visit to the morgue I may have been a bit suicidal, but after you see what happens with a dead body....yeah life just seems so much better than this stinky, melting, rotting bloating process.
And really few people could take that, the smell if overpowering and sticky and clings to your clothes.

Do you think you could be a forensic pathologist and touch and move such corpses in the morgue and examine them?

Not rotters, I don't think I could stand those. I like fresh meat and I hate the thought that we'll become like this after dying. I would love to work with fresh corpses, but like your situation, they probably give rookies the rotters to see if they can tolerate it.

Mmmmmmmmmmm tasty! (at least to the flies/maggots). I have smelled rotters before, and it ain't pleasant. Even the fresh ones, when you open them up, it does have a "fish market" smell to them
