I've not seen or listened to many operas all way thru, but have many pts to like. The first one I saw live was Motzart's "Magic Flute". 8-9th row center,by pure chance. Was totally amazing! Esp. a part where a female lead seemed to make her voice into, well, sound balls, popping them out w/ glorious strength and clarity. Being so close was mesmerizing. There was nothing that seemed old or stuffy. I'd recomend to everybody. Has anyone else been to performance?

"I'LL be SEEING YOU"
WWII song and
a
Song of Lost Love for all generations

"... I'll be seeing you in EVERY lovely summer day,
IN EVERYTHING that's
LIGHT and GAY,
I'll ALWAYS think of YOU that WAY .. "

Performed by the one and only

BOOGIE WOOGIE BOY...

"He's the BOOGIE WOOGIE BUGLE BOY of COMPANY B"
"..from out Chicago way..."
:winner:
:winner::winner:

From the hit WW2 era
1941 Abbott and Costello film
"Buck Privates."
Sung by the unforgettable ANDREWS SISTERS

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTrx8jgpvBk

"He was a famous trumpet man from out Chicago way
He had a boogie style that no one else could play
He was the top man at his craft
But then his number came up and he was gone with the draft
He's in the army now, a-blowin' reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B

They made him blow a bugle for his Uncle Sam
It really brought him down because he couldn't jam
The captain seemed to understand
Because the next day the cap' went out and drafted a band
And now the company jumps when he plays reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B

A-toot, a-toot, a-toot-diddelyada-toot
He blows it eight-to-the-bar, in boogie rhythm
He can't blow a note unless the bass and guitar is playin' with 'im
He makes the company jump when he plays reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B

He was our boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
And when he plays boogie woogie bugle he was busy as a 'bzzz' bee
And when he plays he makes the company jump eight-to-the-bar
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B

Toot-toot-toot, toot-diddelyada, toot-diddelyada
Toot, toot, he blows it eight-to-the-bar
He can't blow a note if the bass and guitar isn't with 'im
A-a-a-and the company jumps when he plays reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B

[Instrumental interlude]

He puts the boys asleep with boogie every night
And wakes 'em up the same way in the early bright
They clap their hands and stamp their feet
Because they know how he plays when someone gives him a beat
He really breaks it up when he plays reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B

Da-dah-da-dah-da
Da-dah-da-da-dah-da
Da-dah-da-da-da

A-a-a-and the company jumps when he plays reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B!"

I think Barbara Streisand is quite an over-rated singer.

That being said I do like musicals. Most of the music from "Phantom of the Opera" is quite good.

"WHEN you WORE a TULIP and I wore a BIG RED ROSE"

"WHEN you WORE a TULIP and I wore a
BIG RED ROSE"
First performed in 1914 in "Tin Pan Alley"
Music composded by Percy Winrich
Lyrics by Jack Mahoney

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5YEAG9G9_Q&feature=related

"When you wore a tulip,
A sweet yellow tulip,
And I wore a big red rose,
When you caressed me,
'twas then Heaven blessed me,
What a blessing no one knows !

You made life cheery,
When you called me dearie,
'Twas down where the blue grass grows.
Your lips were sweeter than julep,
When you wore that tulip,
And I wore a big red rose. "
