I really enjoyed your selections. If anybody needs a good cry, here's another Brokeback Mountain video with Emmylou Harris singing A Love That Will Never Grow Old

Beethoven: The Tempest Sonata, Allegretto

Storms enter all of our lives, turbulent times, times of tempest. Look at Ludwig van Beethoven, a MAESTRO composer and pianist.

THEN, then....the PERFECT STORM, he went deaf !

Yet he perservered and brought order to this utter disaster....composing this virile work,
The Tempest Sonata, in 1801 shortly after he had become entirely deaf.

Amazing...I often listen to it when I am troubled and despairing, knowing that hurt and pain comes to all of us, even the greatest. And yet, despite it all, we must never give up, ever !

I now present the majestically powerful, hauntingly moving:

Tempest Sonata No. 17, Opus 31 No. 2 in D minor, Mvt. III..Allegretto
by Ludwig van Beethoven as performed by the one and only Wilhelm Kempff:

Oh wow! I used to love this song! I haven't heard it for so long. I've always loved the line "The soul afraid of dying that never learns to live". Now I know the rest! Thanks Arrow but it breaks my heart to hear it and I got all watery eyed too!

I love your musical corner Arrow. This reminds me of a song I discovered while searching for possible videos of that hunk from JAG that died so young Trevor Godard. I came across this moving tribute to his memory. It so totally broke my freaking heart that I fell in love with the sad song they use in it. I love when the rest of the cast sings it to him at the end. "Waltzing Matilda"

As always, a very good song to listen and relax too from all that what works us down and out!!

Thank you very much my love!!

Thanks for this inspiring thread, Arrow.
Some of the most uplifting and inspiring music I know is by Libby Roderick - especially the anthem 'How could anyone', written (I've heard, specially for gay men).
HOW COULD ANYONE EVER TELL YOU
YOU WERE ANYTHING LESS THAN BEAUTIFUL?
HOW COULD ANYONE EVER TELL YOU
YOU WERE LESS THAN WHOLE?
HOW COULD ANYONE FAIL TO NOTICE
THAT YOUR LOVING IS A MIRACLE?
HOW DEEPLY YOU’RE CONNECTED TO MY SOUL.

I've got the CDs, haven't got any download links, but her website is http://www.libbyroderick.com/
'Cradle of Dawn' is also one of my favourite songs - absolutely beautiful music and lyrics

"Overture to Tannhauser" by Richard Wagner

My friends,

Yes, again I wish to share with you the most beautiful classical themes that will stir your inner-being to the very CORE.

Last Sunday on November 8, 2009, I shared with you Beethoven's masterwork aka the "Tempest Piano Sonata" and his soaring"Impassionata Piano Sonata."

Today, I share with you a masterwork that lifts me UP and UP HIGHER still...into the snow-capped mountains, beyond that, up into the clouds, then clear blue sky beyond and ultimately the very UNIVERSE itself in all of its mystery and GLORY.

I now present to you.....Richard Wagner's stellar
"Overture to Tannhauser"
.. performed by Maestro Herbert von Karajan conducting the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

Following this, I present The Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing this same masterwork, when sung called "The Pilgrim's Chorus."

Finally, this masterwork sung with towering scenes from our Earth and the Skies Above !

I could listen to this grand, inspiring masterwork DAY and NIGHT, NIGHT and DAY ! The POWER, the MAJESTY, the BEAUTY, the GALLANTRY and BOLDNESS it heralds forth is both fervently and heroically OVERWHELMING !

Listen to Tannhauser above

Listen to the "Overture to Tannhauser" above....and listen to the music of REAL MEN, of all that is HEROIC, NOBLE, BRAVE and TRUE.

The last link in the Wagner's "Overture to Tannhauser" I presented above I discovered too late does not work.

It is a glorious scenic version, and I repost it here with the link working THIS time.

The "Heroic Pololnaise" by Frederic Chopin

Frederic Chopin's Polonaise in A flat Major, Opus 53 ... called the "Heroic Polonaise" because it is so stirring. Here it is performed by the legendary Maestro Vladimir Horowitz.

This work is technically very demanding, as I have learned from performing it myself. Yet it always leaves me at the grand finale feeling most thrilled and highly exalted.

I cordally invite you to listen and discover the exhilarating reason.

You know, my experience with many of you is that you are MULTI-DIMENSIONAL men, very complex....who have a lustier side but also a very sensitive, caring, inspirational side.

BALANCE is the key to MENTAL HEALTH and PHYSICAL WELL-BEING. Life, after all, is not ALL about DEATH....LIFE consists of LIFE, too !!!

One of my GREAT PASSIONS is MUSIC...classical symphonies, classical piano (which I have studied and performed), the opera and musical "BROADWAY" works.

To this end, I am creating "ArrowMan's MUSICAL CORNER"..... and my first
link is to a stirring song for all .... regarding the dawn of a better day..."for LOOK, a NEW DAY has BEGUN ! "

From the Broadway musical "CATS"..... Barbara Streisand sings "MEMORIES" (as no one else ever has and EVER can), which I dedicate to a most special person who has forever changed my life for the better:

Hey idiot, the song is "Memory".

I once saw Roberta Flack sing The First time Ever I saw your face...she was memorizing...I also Saw in NYC the original Broadway Cast, on Broadway, (My mother is from NYC and very wealthy) cast of Cats on Broadway...2 of my favorite memories. The song memories still, esp recently with all my health problems and surgeries, really hits home with me. I feel just like that old tomcat. You are a refined gentleman arrow my friend. Don't ever change. Hang tough my brother.
