Awww... bless you for that, good buddy! After the horrible day I had yesterday you've touched my silly patriotic British heart and made me want to cry. Yes, here's to our British Queen, happy and glorious, long to reign over us... Just look at her, buddy! Isn't she fine? She's the only monarch most of us have ever known. She's our link with the past when we were a proud and united people and we defied all comers, and she's still here for us now when we're tearing ourselves apart, but we're going to lose her, buddy, we're going to lose her. And what will we have left then to remind us of who we once were?
I tell you what our true friends in America can do for us. They can do everything in their power to stop the Tea Party spreading lies about us, telling the world that we've already caved in to the Muslims, that we're a bunch of godless socialists like the North Koreans, that we run death panels and leave our sick babies to die, that our old people shiver untended in hospital corridors and end their days with no one to feed them or clean up their mess, that our brave soldiers in Afghanistan are pussies fit for nothing except shooting Irish civilians. And stop them from lying about our history too, claiming Hitler would have conquered us if you Americans hadn't come to the rescue. We won the Battle of Britain long before you entered the war! (But we couldn't have won the war itself without your help.)
I know why the Tea Party are doing this. It's domestic politics. They're doing their darnedest to get rid of a clever, cunning, compassionate President who's trying to redistribute a little of America's wealth, while their agenda is for the rich to keep ALL the wealth for themselves. Ninety percent of the American people would never dream of voting for such a cruel agenda, so the Tea Party are having to resort to lies. First they tried the Muslim-in-Chief ploy. That didn't work. Then they tried the phoney birth certificate ploy. That didn't work. So now they're gunning for the President's 'socialist' policies of high government spending, state intervention and universal access to healthcare, and they're claiming that these are based on the British model, and everybody knows what a pathetic shambles of a country Britain is. Why do they know this? Because the Tea Party keep telling them so!
They're being very clever, and they're being very dishonourable. because most ordinary Americans are too busy putting food on the table and making sure the kids get a good education and following domestic issues to have much time to study British politics, so belief in the lies is spreaing like wildfire. The trouble is, my American buddy, the rest of the world is beginning to believe the lies too, and we're becoming a global laughing stock.
