Since June 2022, floods in Pakistan caused by climate change, monsoon rains and melting glaciers have killed over 2,000 people, including 350 children.
In August 2022, six military officers were killed in a helicopter crash during a flood relief operation.
It is the world's deadliest flood since the 2017 South Asian floods. On 25 August, Pakistan declared a state of emergency because of the flooding. By 29 August, officials said around "one-third" of the country was underwater.
