Yes, slow hangings in Iran.Iran doesn't do "drop down" hangings where the condemned drops through a trap door and the neck snaps resulting in instant death. They use a slow lift strangulation method in which the victim struggles and slowly suffocates. Depending upon how vigorous their struggle is (legs flailing, body twisting and sandals flying off into the air...etc. etc.) they may or may not have a rope bruise on their neck. If their jugular veins were immediately closed off with the brain deprived of oxygen, they instantly lost consciousness and would just hang in the breeze like the days laundry. This method has more spectacle to it as well. Whole families can come out to watch and with the victim dangling high up in the air from the construction crane, there is no possibility of being unable to see it. Not possible to have a bad seat in the house.
