The state Medical Examiner ruled today that the death of a University of Delaware student last month was accidental.
Paul Smith, 18, of Kendall Park, N.J., was found early Nov. 8 lying unconscious and in cardiac arrest on the floor following an off-campus drinking party at the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity in the first block of Annabelle Street in Newark.
He died after being taken to Christiana Hospital.
An autopsy last month revealed no trauma to the body but was pending the results of toxicology tests.
State Department of Health and Social Services spokesman Jay Lynch said the Medical Examiner ruled that the manner of Griffin’s death was accidental.
Because of that ruling, the cause of death is exempt from public disclosure, Lynch said.
