Model and soldier Tal Nachman killed by friendly fire near Gaza border

IDF Captain Tal Nachman, 21, from Ness Ziona was shot dead by friendly fire early Tuesday morning after being mistaken for a terrorist near the security fence in the northern Gaza Strip.

Bad news for him - the Israelis usually bury their military dead fresh within 24 hrs per Jewish custom

I am thinking more along with lack or discipline, following procedures, mis-communications and lack of experience (as in new recruit panicking) and on the other hand, he is a intelligence officer, so why was he that expendable? Warning shots in the air (official story) does not lead to a bullet in the back, unless it richochet off something, which in this case is highly unlikely.
