The 2010 San Bruno pipeline explosion took place shortly after 6 p.m. PDT on September 9, 2010, in San Bruno, California, a suburb of San Francisco, when a natural gas pipeline exploded in flames in the Crestmoor residential neighborhood 2 mi (3.2 km) west of San Francisco International Airport,near Skyline Boulevard and San Bruno Avenue.

Six people were killed, and many more were hospitalized for their injuries.

At least 37 homes were destroyed by the blaze, with about 14 damaged.] The resulting 40 ft. crater was along the sidewalk on Glenview Dr. in front of 1701 Earl Ave. (a corner house) but much of the destroyed homes were eastward in the 1600 block of Claremont Dr. Two people at that Earl address were among those killed: Jacqueline Greig, 44, and her 13-year-old daughter Janessa Greig.
