Dr. Thomas Andrew, the chief medical examiner of New Hampshire, retired last month. Bodies from overdose deaths have overwhelmed medical examiners across the country.

“After seeing thousands of sudden, unexpected or violent deaths,” Dr. Andrew said, “I have found it impossible not to ponder the spiritual dimension of these events.”

If you read the article it clearly states there are not many young doctors in USA who want to become forensic pathologists.

It's a tough job both physically and mentally demanding and it takes years of study sometimes ten years or more.

Same situaiton in Europe there is lack of forensic pathologists. In Bulgaria there are only 80 and majority approaching retirement age.

For me it's the most exciting job but 99% of people are disgusted by dead bodies and will never want to touch let alone cut a corpse.

People are really disgusting from the inside anyone who has observed an autopsy knows the smell of an open cadaver is nauseating.
