  • There is no such thing as a 'crack' adder - any adder will slide into a gap between rocks if there is one
  • There are no rocks on Hounslow heath
  • I very much doubt if the adder was 3ft (36 inches or about 0.9 metre) long - British adders are hardly ever more than 2ft, and even in Sweden where apparently they grow biggest, I think 35 inches is about the record
But a bit scary though - you don't expect snakebites in a London park, this was a bad one, and if it had bit the toddler it probably would have killed him.
