This kind of mayhem may be a reverse psychology issue. The bad guys continue to cut people into pieces because photos are always taken, and said photos are then dispersed worldwide. The horrified and titillated public responds to the photos and the bad guys are happy. If only we could ignore the terrorists, maybe they'd stop.
However, since the photos are already here, I think I'll look at them. :O
