Thousands of families have been caught in gridlock in Florida, the Carolinas and Georgia after fleeing their homes ahead of the storm - which is expected to strike Miami as Category 4 hurricane early on Friday morning with winds of up to 145mph.

A direct hit by Matthew could lead to "massive destruction" on a level unseen since Hurricane Andrew devastated the Miami area in 1992. Voluntary and mandatory evacuations in his state stretch from the Miami area all the way north to the Florida-Georgia border.

More updates soon.

Hurricane Matthew has left 108 people dead in Haiti.

One local official said 50 people had died in the southern town of Roche-a-Bateau alone.

Update, it's current track has it hitting FL around the Space Center on the east coast, and then riding the coast up to Jacksonville, before turning out to sea and possibly doing a loop and returning for a second visit next week. For now, I'm riding it out just north of Orlando.

Good luck Hangtime, and all members in FL and GA or wherever else it ends up.

Hang in there HangTime. Thanks for updating us on the situation in your area.

National Weather Service has advised 'loss of life' and 'immense human suffering' is possible.
