Typhoon Soudelor kills at least 20 people in China, hundreds missing in Taiwan

At least twenty people have been killed in eastern China after parts of the country were hit by the heaviest rains in a century brought by a weakening Typhoon Soudelor/

Another five people are missing after the storm caused landslides in the eastern province of Zhejiang and heavy rain in south-eastern province of Fujian, the official Xinhua news agency reported.

Wencheng county saw downpours of 645 millimetres in 24 hours, the heaviest rains in 100 years, after the typhoon made landfall on Saturday night. Hundreds of people were decalred missing in Taiwan over the weekend.
