Guys pictured on this site are so often wearing braces, and I just don't see them as often here in the USA. Probably that's because I'm not looking at their mouths.
I had to wear them for a while as a kid, but fortunately I didn't end up as a cdg wearing them.
By the way, although 'braces' is used for toothwear in the UK, more normally it means what my parents' gneraton (mainly, you do still see them occasionally) wore to hold their trousers up (from the top of the torusers, up over the shoulder and down the back, on both sides). I think you call tose 'suspeders' -which over here is what women used to use (and a certain sort of woman still does) to hold their nylon stockings up.
