EXECUTION AS ENTERTAINMENT, HERE AND NOW

The Nevada Underground

Shocking execution shows are being put up weekly in the Gothic Palace, a secret club in Las Vegas. The club is operated by the parent company of Harrah’s casino, located in a medium-sized hotel in the outskirts of Vegas. The building looks like an ordinary hotel from the outside, whose windows are all made of fortified security glass and tinted dark green.

Recent legalization of assisted suicide in the state of Nevada has allowed Harrah’s parent company, Prize Entertainment Inc. (PEI), to start its highly exclusive execution shows. The admission price for the 2-hour late night show is an astonishing $2500 per guest ($4500 per guest if a double execution is scheduled), and all tickets must be prepaid 3 weeks in advance. The show would be canceled if the 400-seat venue could not be filled for the scheduled time.

Only members of Gothic Palace club are eligible to attend the execution shows. These are select wealthy individuals who would furnish a line of credit to the club no less than $100,000, who sign papers to forfeit rights to sue PEI for any reason. They must not be members of law enforcement or hold political office. They also have to sign papers to renounce their rights to write journals, media pieces, or talk about the GPC shows in public.

The execution shows are artfully directed and acted drama segments on historical or contemporary themes. They invariably result in execution of one or two victims. According to Nevada law, these “executions” are a form of assisted suicide, with all the legal papers prepared for each intended victim in advance. During each show a representative of the Clark County coroner’s office is present to perform death verification and legal filing backstage. Each intended victim have gone through extensive assessment by 3 certified psychiatrists to establish his/her sanity and true will to commit assisted suicide.

The execution victims are typically paid a minimum of $250,000 post mortem to their heirs. Depending on the physical condition, age, and attractiveness, the payment could be much more. Currently, about 20% of the victims are female, the rest are male, due to the shortage of female applicants. Applicants must be physically healthy, over 18 years of age, and go through a bidding process before selected. This bidding process happens both online and in the club. Each post-mortem body part of the applicant is sold to the highest bidder through a variety of means. First, the fitness of the body for human consumption is established by lab tests, whose results are presented to potential bidders. The body part can be preserved by a high-tech silicone osmosis process, au naturelle, or cooked, depending on client preference. Within the club’s basement exhibition room, a computer-engineered life-like replica of the applicant’s nude body is displayed so that club members can assess the real size, color and shape of the body and parts. Applicants who do not generate sufficient bids for their body are rejected. Those who generate very high bids for their body parts get a portion of the proceeds added to their post mortem payment. In some cases the club determines that the applicant’s sex appeal is so high that it will display the body permanently in its hall of fame after preserving it using silicone osmosis, therefore the body will be taken off all bids. In other occasions a specific group intending to use the body for a party and/or feast would outbid everyone else in order to have sole possession of the goods. Members may also rent silicone preserved body parts for the duration of their stay in the Gothic Palance’s hotel. These would be hidden in the closets or frigobar (for smaller body parts) to deliver a shock effect if desired by the client.

The execution methods are limited to decapitation and hanging, so as to not damage the body that would be worth thousands to clients. The state of Nevada also legally restricts assisted suicide to means that are deemed to not inflict excessive pain and suffering. The victim is given the choice of his/her death method, which is legally finalized two weeks before the scheduled time of the show. Due to the current political climate, execution shows with anti-terrorism themes are highly demanded by club members in the past 6 months. All parts in the show except the victims of the executions are played by professional actors, however, the role of the executioner must be certified by the state of Nevada to be a humane suicide assister using the prescribed means. The certification requirements for the decapitator (“headsman”) using axe or sword can be extremely stringent.

The author had the good luck of touring one of club member’s private estate without paying a fortune. The said club member is a wealthy attorney is his early forties. In his backyard he had several severed human heads mounted on stakes, as well as headless bodies impaled from the anus by shiny metal spikes. Some of the bodies have their genitalia removed, others sported impressive erections. Additionally, severed male genitalia were displayed in glass boxes hanging on his walls, some of amazing size and rigidity. The host revealed that the high-tech silicone osmosis preservation technique could make a dead penis assume its excited size by a pressurized process. This takes about 40 hours but it is always performed in the Gothic Palace club before delivery to clients. The results are fantastic: the specimen remained lifelike forever and soft to the touch, and can be warmed if desired. On the other hand, the host revealed that he had also purchased au naturelle bodies for feasting after roasting them on the backyard grill. He admitted that he received very strong sexual response after eating the flesh, as well as during the process of preparing and cooking the body. Those feasts all took place during parties with many friends sharing the same type of sexual fetishes.

The host next presented to the author files describing the life story of each victim. These files can be obtained from the Gothic Palace club for each prospective victim. To the author’s astonishment, some of the victims were criminals convicted of capital crimes. The host explained that the Nevada State Prison has a voluntary program with GPC whereby the club can obtain the execution victims at much lower cost than paid to voluntary victims of assisted suicide. The program also benefited the inmates by paying their heirs post mortem an average of $25,000. For security reasons most victim testing and preparation work is done on prison grounds, and the prison sends additional guards to attend the execution show, armed with anesthetic bullets which will ensure smooth operation of the show in the event of an attempted escape. The host revealed that even for voluntary victims, sometimes one would change his mind right before execution. To prevent this from disrupting the show, the victims are always given a dose of medication to temporarily prevent the normal functioning of the vocal chord. Guards armed with anesthetic bullets are always on hand in case a shot would be needed to calm down the victim.

The author commented that almost all of the heads and body parts of the victims in the host’s house seemed to be no more than 20 years old. The host confirmed this observation, noting that about 47% of all volunteer victims at Gothic Palace club are below the age of 25. He pointed to one of the exceptions. This was a 36 year-old former police officer, handsome, tall, dark skinned, and with a powerful physique. This man used to be on the US Olympic relay team. A painful divorce bankrupted him and he decided to use the money he would receive for his death to provide for his daughter’s college education. His cleanly severed and well-preserved head, along with his giant 11-inch long erect penis are now in a beautiful glass box on the shelf next to the fireplace in the host’s home.

The host next decided to do a little show-and-tell. He ordered his attendant to remove one of the impaled bodies from the backyard and lay it down in his playroom. The body belonged to a 19 year old boy from the Midwest. He was blond, moderately hairy, medium build, with great muscular definition. He was a former high-school cheerleader. Except for the head, the entire body was intact, and there were no signs of bruises or cuts. This boy must have been killed by decapitation. A while later, another attendant produced the severed head of this boy from the study. The boy had light colored blond hair in a short crew cut; amazingly he resembled Eminem, the famous rap artist. The host then proceeded to insert his finger inside the boy’s anus to show its lifelike feel. The author can only imagine what kind of sexual fetish acts the host implied, but was repulsed to see it in action. This boy was kicked out of his family for being gay. He had dedicated all the money he would receive for his death to his close friends and to AIDS charities, and none to his family.

From the ensuing conversation the host leaked news about recent investigations by the Federal government for the links of some former voluntary victims to terrorist organizations. There were 5 foreign students in the past year from Islamic countries who volunteered for the club’s execution shows. Because of their looks and complexion, they were perfect for the shows with an anti-terrorist theme. However, the proceeds from their deaths were allegedly used to finance terrorist organizations in the Arab world. The host was convinced however, that in the near future the money would only go to reputable Islamic charities, but the execution of Arab victims with big endowments will continue to be popular among club members.
